HRH The Crown Princess of Sweden and Mr. Daniel Westling
June 19, 2010
Well, kids, yesterday we partied hardy in the wedding live posts, and today we get to have a tiara fiesta! I've compiled all of the tiara entries for the royal guests at Crown Princess Victoria's wedding to Daniel Westling (now Prince Daniel) in this entry.
The wedding, of course, took place in Stockholm yesterday. The couple has been together since 2002, when Daniel became Victoria's personal trainer. Love blossomed, and on their wedding day, Daniel became royal. During their balcony appearance, Victoria thanked the people of Sweden for giving her a prince.
And now, we'll all just have to wait to see how long it takes before the pitter-patter of little royal feet are heard in Haga Palace!

A new hatter in this post -- and the appearance of a tiara that probably caused a collective gasp among Swedish royal watchers when it came on screen!
This is Princess Margaretha, the eldest of Carl Gustaf's four sisters, and one of three of them who lost their royal status when they married commoners. Margaretha's name came up several times in the news over the past few weeks as an example of a Swedish princess who walked down the aisle with a male relative (in her case, her grandfather, King Gustaf VI Adolf) rather than together with her groom. She moved to England with her late husband, John Ambler, soon after the marriage, and lives a life out of the public eye.
Until today, that is, when she busted a tiara out of the archives that many thought had been sold years ago! This is the Aquamarine Kokoshnik Tiara, an interesting piece that features diamonds arranged in a fringe setting interspersed with enormous aquamarines. The tiara was given to Margaretha on her wedding day by her mother, Princess Sibylla. Prior to that, it apparently belonged to Crown Princess Margaret, born Princess Margaret of Connaught; this Margaretha is Margaret's granddaughter and namesake.
The appearance of this tiara may have been a surprise even to the Swedish royal court; the official documents published about the family's wedding attire stated that Margaretha would wear the Baden Fringe Tiara!
If only Margaretha's entire outfit had been as spectacular! Here's a full-length view...
