Danish Ruby Jubilee - Service of Thanksgiving: HM The Queen of Sweden

An interesting fascinator -- sort of verging into Christmas bow territory, and it kind of disappears into Sil's hair, but I think I like it anyway.

Danish Ruby Jubilee - City Hall Reception: HM Queen Anne-Marie of Greece

No surprise here -- a pillbox hat on Anne-Marie.  I can see that she's going for classic with this shape, as she does so often, but I can't help but wish she'd mix things up a bit on the hattery front now and then.

Remembrance Sunday 2011: HM The Queen

A rather standard QEII military/mourning hat for Remembrance Day, though I can't help but think that perhaps, with the round crown/asymmetrical side/bow extravaganza, maybe the feeble little antennae weren't really necessary.

But: annual sighting of the diamond bow brooch as poppy stem gatherer!  Never fails to make me grin.

Remembrance Sunday 2011: HRH The Duchess of Cambridge

*deep breath*

I hate to throw shade at someone on her first Remembrance Sunday outing, but I can't help it.  I hate this.  I seriously, legitimately hate this hat.  Why is it smaller than a real hat but bigger than a fascinator?  Why is it perched so weirdly?  What's with the huge-non bow?  And why does the whole thing make me think of cavaliers, musketeers, and the English Civil War?

Sigh.  Better luck next time, Katie C.

Guide Dogs National Breeding Centre: HRH Princess Alexandra, The Hon. Lady Ogilvy

Once again, Princess Alexandra shows us all how it's done.  How fab is this hat -- and those emeralds -- and that puppy???

Of course, she's also demonstrating the British upper-class tradition of wearing whatever accessories you happen to find around the house, whether they match or not. ;)  Love her!

(Thanks to the many hatters who sent along info about this event!)

Opening of Parliament 2011: HRH The Duchess of Hälsingland and Gästrikland

At first, I thought I loved Madeleine's fascinator/headband so much because we almost never see her anymore, but now I think I really like it because, well, I just do.

It's just really adorable -- it could look too "little girl," but she really manages to pull it off.

Also: hello, CP.  Sigh.  Hear things are getting quite serious with you and the Snake Lady.  Hope ... you're ... happy together.  *weeps*
