Raad van State Visit: HM The Queen of The Netherlands and HRH Princess Máxima of The Netherlands

Queen Cake's hat at this visit to the Dutch Council of State is wacky, but it's repeat wacky.  The real story is the topper behind her...

Poor Máx looks a little like she's just won the Run for the Roses...

Danish Ruby Jubilee - City Hall Reception: HM Queen Anne-Marie of Greece

No surprise here -- a pillbox hat on Anne-Marie.  I can see that she's going for classic with this shape, as she does so often, but I can't help but wish she'd mix things up a bit on the hattery front now and then.

State Visit to Oman - Nakhal Fort: HRH Princess Máxima of The Netherlands

Two for two on wide-brimmed Máx hats for the day!  This one's on the beachy side, but I still like it.  Although it looks like it was a bit difficult to keep on:

Must have been a wee bit windy...

Danish Ruby Jubilee - Reception at Parliament: HRH The Crown Princess of Denmark

Our other royal hatter-in-residence at today's Jubilee event is the always-lovely CP Mary, in a hat we last saw on the blog during Margrethe's 70th birthday celebrations in 2010.  (In fact, I believe we've got a repeat of the entire outfit, even down to the jewelry.)  But I don't mind -- out of all of Mary's tall-crown hats, I think this one might be my favorite.

No Marie at these events, sadly -- but she gets a pass, because she's about to give Daisy the best Jubilee gift of all, an eighth grandchild!  I've got my fingers crossed for another little Danish princess...

Christmas at Sandringham 2011: HRH Princess Eugenie of York

At least one of the Yorkies brought a mad hat to this year's Christmas service.  This truly isn't as mad as it could be -- it's more retro than bad, really -- but the hot pink cabbage flower does sort of push it over the edge, doesn't it?

(But hey, how great does her hair look?)

Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony 2011: HM The Queen of Norway

Like the orange-y red of this hat ... unfortunately, the shape is giving me less "Nobel Peace Prize" and more "looks the tupperware stash under my sink."  And now I'm having Astrid flashbacks...

Visit to the Caribbean - Oranjestad, Aruba: HRH Princess Máxima of The Netherlands

Angle #1: Gorgeous!  Classic Máx!

Angle #2: Oh, dear.  Well, this is just asking the Caribbean for a sunburned scalp, isn't it?

Visit to Australia - Southbank, Brisbane: HM The Queen

Another repeater for a tour of flood-ravaged Queensland ... still don't like the frayed ends of the braid embellishment on this one.

But look!  We also got a headwear two-fer earlier in the day!

I like that she's all casual and relaxed in her granny scarf, but still ready for spontaneous hattery at any given moment. :)

Thomas Sutton's Wedding: HRH The Duchess of Cambridge

Start your engines, hatters -- Katie Cambridge is out and about again, going red at yet another friend's wedding.  At first glance I thought she'd recycled her maple leaf fascinator (well, yesterday was the first day of autumn, after all), but no, this one's quite different.

Eh, overall, I'm a little underwhelmed.  Fascinators like these are a dime a dozen at a British wedding.  Thoughts?

Cams wore a raaaaaaaspberry beret

The kind she wears when the royals go north

Raaaaaaaaspberry beret

And if the hat gods are kind, she won't wear it much more.
